Priorities

Beth Cliff is ready to represent the people of Monroe, Easton and Trumbull in Hartford and is committed to getting results and representing the priorities of our community.  Beth has been meeting with voters and is hearing about their concerns and issues.

As a member of the majority, Beth will bring home the state resources you’ve been waiting for.

These are voters’ priorities and they are Beth’s:

Ensure Connecticut remains a leader among the states

  • Ensure reproductive freedoms and protections for those who seek care and provide care. Connecticut is already in a strong position, but there is more work to be done to keep these freedoms safe from any potential national overreach, whether presidential, judicial or legislative.

  • Support and expand our current gun safety laws; Connecticut is proud to be a model for this country with our Gun Violence Prevention Act

  • Deliver responsible approaches to climate issues including creating clean, green prevailing wage jobs; Connecticut is poised to be a leader in delivering green energy. Implement programs that encourage consumers to make climate-friendly choices. This is an opportunity for expanded leadership from Connecticut.
  • Make affordability the center of a thriving state and local economy

  • Focus on reducing costs for working families’ ongoing household expenses: housing, utilities, insurance, transportation, groceries, childcare, and healthcare
  • Deliver responsible fiscal policy that lightens our tax burden for those who need it the most
  • Consider the judicious use of the $4 billion rainy-day-fund (the “financial guard rails” ) to support budgeted programs
  • Hold utility companies accountable for delivering reliable service and holding costs in check
  • Reduce the burdens on small businesses and create an environment that allows them to thrive
  • Secure state funding to shore up needed investments in this District’s towns for needed infrastructure and community programs
  • Bolster our towns as they deliver services to their citizens

  • Deliver excellent public education for our students, parents and teachers
  • Expand pre-K and vocational programs
  • Prioritize our first responders and public safety programs so they have what they need to keep us all safe in both “regular times” and emergencies
  • Care for our seniors

  • Ensure we have enough affordable housing for seniors on fixed incomes
  • Deliver programs that enable seniors to remain in their homes
  • Continue to cut costs for prescription medication
  • Bolster services that support engagement among seniors and enable participation in the larger community

An overarching priority is to ensure that our democracy and our freedoms at home and in our nation, are protected.

Beth is committed to being a representative whom you can be proud of.  Being a member of the majority party allows her to have a strong voice for the people of our towns.  This means more resources and funding for the three towns in District 112, Monroe, Easton and Trumbull.

Most of all, Beth is committed to representing the District in a manner that honors the inherent dignity of all people, regardless of gender, race, religious affiliation, ethnic heritage, physical ability, or economic situation.  She will engage in conversations and spirited discussions that are open, inclusive, respectful, forward-looking, and focused on results.
